Engine fans. Some boats blow, some suck. My boat manual recommends using the ext. fan while the engines are running to keep the compartment cool. Sureley it would be more effective to have the air being forced into to engine conpartment. Perhaps extraction is to prevent fumes from reaching other parts of the boat. When the boat is planing it is using up more air than an intake fan can supply .

Correctly set up bilge blowers suck air from the bilge area as low as possible in order to evacuate any explosive gasses and are not designed to cool the compartment. When the motor is running the air taken in by the motor causes a depression and air is taken in from outside in volumes far above any bilge blower( if the vents are of the correct size) a blower should only be needed at low speed. As the blowers take air from the lower part of the compatment where the air is theoreticaly cooler I doubt this will do anything to effectivley cool the compartment.
