I forget the results, but I like the large attwood ones -Heavy duty 1700 & 2000- from many chandlers via marathon leisure or in plastimo catalogue for a little more money. Reasonable power drain for high output (some makes draw much more) & works well in practice (tested in the bath actually, since there's never been enough water on board to reach the pump).

Naturally size/outlet angle/position are important & this one suited our needs....it's not a good choice for draining the last few cm (a separate auto-atwood does that).

I tried many and generally was very dissapointed with their reliability. The final straw was a rather choppy journey in a force 5 when the 30 foot fishing boat we were in shipped a lot of water and we found that the pump had given up so we had to manually pump out the bilges. After all this I splashed out on a Jabsco puppy which although expensive works well with the added bonus it is fitted on a bulkhead where I can reach it with ease if anything goes wrong with it. It pumps through a filter to remove oil etc. which I found other pumps did not seem to want to do. You could also plumb it in a way to feed a hose if you wished. It certainly gets my vote.
