Hi, I am forlornly looking within my meagre 5-6k budget for a decent size boat. I will be happy with something that needs work but unfortunately I don't have time for a full restoration. Ideally I would like something 25' to 45' with a diesel engine (or without if its cheap enough!) with at least 2 berths (or space to build them) i'll consider wood or G.R.P. and it needs to be fairly rugged as my dad also will be a part share and needs to be able to work off her. I know its a tall order but just wondered if anyone knew of anything.. Thanks Iain

just to elaborate a little...I would be using her as a sea going family cruiser although she'd be mainly used for day trips around Poole Harbour area I'd like the accomadation to be able to go a little further afield. In an ideal world cross channel but for 5k I realise this may be a bit more than I can manage

look for boats in the states for that money you may get a well known brand modern(ish) mid/ late 80's 26 footer or so, 4 berth that only needs cosmetics to make her decent.

if your mainly going to be pootling about south coast or IOW then I wouldnt worry about it being diesel unless you intend to spend hours on her lets face it red diesel is going down the Mr Crapper anyway and will be up to 70p a litre.
