Apparently you can now “rent” a awful catamaran thingy with “ upto 35%” discount and sail in Greece,What next two for one ,get one free.Once the Greek isles are clogged with rented floating platforms they will start onthegalician rias .I suppose it’s the result of masificación and mammon but they could use the word “charter”

2 for one? You’ve already got that, it’s a catamaran.

After a disagreement with first mate about whether taking the opportunity to anti foul while hauled out for a scrub and transducer change prior to heading to France constituted an appropriate holiday activity…our holiday plans rapidly morphed into something more planey and I bring you this report overlooking the caldera in santorini. The thing that struck me when we arrived yesterday are the number of cats here (not just the fluffy kind). I don’t remember seeing so many in Greece before. Is this the youtuber effect?

Or maybe it's the charter companies realising that people want more and more space and aren't so keen on boats that tip your glass off the table

There’s a catamaran discussion on the motorboat sub forum...if the mods could link them up, we could have a joint moan..some of the motorboaters may not have experienced Wansworth at full misery....

It's not like this is new. Charter companies in the prime areas of the Eastern Med and the Carribean have seen this punter demand for mebbe twenty years. Its clearly working for them from what I've seen in visits to both places, again over a number of years.

On the Broads boats were always 'hired', which has its own quaint charm. I've never seen a catamaran there though and doubt if such an animal exists.

The precise word for the transaction has probably been lost in translation.
