Yep - that was the area.

Here are a few pics taken at that time (13 years ago) as we left Sutton Harbour - maybe they will give you an idea of that marina.

I hope they aren't too boring but I think it gives a good idea of the space in Sutton Harbour for a 20m Princess.

We were en route to Swanwick so there are some similar ones of our arrival in the Hamble.
We know the Hamble quite well having kept previous boats there.

Thank you. A nice marina by the looks of it and a decent sized lock too.
travelling to the boat still goes against Plymouth but i also note the berthing tariff is far lower there too so may revisit this in time.

I live in the West Country and have a 67 foot Princess but, as I say, I wouldn't keep it in the UK - too big.
You WILL regret it.

I absolutely know you will be right. It is as i stated early on though, for me the right way to do whatever is necessary to the boat if/when it arrives, learn the boat, get my skills in place and get through this shitty pandemic with it all being closer to home to be able to make the most of it. Then we go finding the sun.

Sounds like a plan :) Wish I could do that. Brexit scuppered all hope of it due to 90/180 limitations.

Might cost you "big time" on taxes though.

Luckily Mrs Ashtead has decided to revisit her Irish roots so we just have to master the complexity of the website . We had this idea of a small base in Valencia area or such like - it might not be as hot as Italy but rather closer than Tenerife.

After 13 years maybe you could bring your boat back for a refurb.
It cost me 20 grand in fuel to get her out there - that would be more now.
So, maybe as much as 50 grand round trip - excluding wear and tear.
Thats a lot of refirb in our local boatyard.
Anyway, we are booked to go out soon for some well deserved R&R (in the sun).

I've got no idea of the costs etc on this size of boat, but a lot of the boatyards and marinas are busy on hardstanding between November and April and offer marina alongside deals for the Winter. When we had an annual contract with MDL and Boatfolk we had only 6 weeks ashore during included in Winter months. I thought I'd mention this as if you're boat isn't arriving in the UK for the refurb work till after April, there might be a few more options available and a cost saving.
