Relocating from Conwy to a Holyhead Sailing Club mooring!
I was apprehensive about the extra 40 minutes drive but the advantages far outweigh this.
At Conwy there are tidal restriction getting in and out and it can take 40 minutes until you can start sailing.
At Holyhead you can arrive anytime when the club launch is running and be on the boat in 10 minutes and sailing in 20. There are plenty of day sailing options and if it is blowing a bit strong then you can have a blast around in the shelter of the breakwater.
An added bonus is that the sailing club has a great bar, restaurant, and atmosphere!
I am over wintering in Rhyl which also has surprised me. Very easy lift out with the new self propelled "sub lift 12" and the secure boat compound is very good with power and water close by. The harbour master and his staff are very friendly and helpful. I thoroughly recommend Rhyl for winter hard standing, I'll leave it to you to form an opinion about what else Rhyl has to offer!

We had Kittiwake on a swinging mooring at Holyhead two years ago. The club launch is excellent and you never waited more than ten minutes for it to arrive. (Customary to tip the helmsman £1 for each trip, well worth it). Having had two years in Liverpool marina, the advantages of Holyhead with regard to getting the boat out are undeniable - any time of the day or night without needing to check tide tables and lock opening times - just watch out for the ferries! We moved to get the boat nearer to my home, which on reflection was an OK decision for carrying out maintenance but poor from a sailing viewpoint.

The bar and restaurant at the club are fine and obviously very convenient. Holyhead as a town is a little dowdy but with resorts such as Trearddur Bay, Anglesey is a wonderful place.

Good luck.
