Best Anchor for the East Coast.

My CQR and Bruce both drag.

Are they genuine CQR and Bruce?

It is often said that the copies of these and other branded designs can be significantly inferior to the 'real thing', due to minor changes in shape/weight distribution, etc.

CQRs can also suffer from reduced effectiveness with age due to wear in the 'hinge'.

What is the size of your anchor and boat?
Hi. Boat is a Heard 23 Falmouth Working Boat, 4+tonne displacement, 23ft on deck but length over spars 34ft !. I have a 5kg Bruce, 3m chain then rope, that I use as a "lunch hook" for temporary anchoring but never above f4, when unattended or over night and works well for this. My main anchor is a 25lb CQR with all chain, very reliable.

I am thinking about 6 kg Vulcan, but wondering if its not too light. I am planning to anchor very rarely, mostly overnight, but I want to have something 'strong'.
