Apologies for cross-posting, might have more luck in here ....

Hi all.

Struggling to sort out this Passerelle for a friend, & trying to do it remotely (He is in Spain, I'm in the UK) is not helping.

I wondered if anyone had any documentation, either user or installation manual, that they could let me have a copy of ? or indeed for similar models that might help.

Sounds like the local fixer is ripping him off, get one thing fixed & another couple of problems appear, followed by another astronomical quote, repeat several times.

Thanks for that, the parts pages I could not find, the others I had seen.

I have still not found anything that resembles a user or installation manual, so very difficult to fault find, or how to program in replacement remotes.

What the local agent is now saying, after replacing & charging a lot for the circuit board, is that the IR receiver is duff, this after replacing a couple of solenoids previously.

Like all things marine, no service info from the manufacturers, only via an agent, with lots of mark up.

I'm quite familiar with them and have docs on boat today (though I'm short of time today and mine might bre a different model). Handshaking with new remotes is easy. You press a button on the electronics box, or a flick a dipswitch inside it, depending on model, and fire the remote at the box for 10 seconds, and job is done

Also I have 2 spare remotes for sale on the for sale forum if you want them (ad about 2 weeks ago). 4 button type, up/down/in/out only

The uk agent for besenzoni is www.timage.eu and they might help you on the phone. You need the type number of your electonics box, not of the passerelle itself, to get the best help.

Good luck

Thanks for the info !

I was going to ask you what the remotes you had were, I asume they are the IR type, but, I don't know if newer remotes are radio based or they are all IR types.

When you get the time, and you are not involved with more important things like shipping Match, could you dig the docs out & give me a copy. I am presuming most of the systems Besenzoni make are based on much the same electronics.

Cheers

The remotes I have are IR. Bez have only ever used IR. Their thinking is that the operator of the remote must be in close line of sight othwerwise they do not want the passerelle operable. They think a radio remote could be in your pocket with a bunch of keys in same pocket, and the pass could move when you sit down Because a passerelle can remove limbs/fingers or worse, they have a very good point imho

My manuals are now on MATCH on aship, but I'll try to p'copy and scan sometime. It'll be a few weeks now, sorry

Err, are you sure your new pass remotes arn't radio? Mine certainly are. :) Pretty sure your pass is the same as mine.

I think I'm sure (!). Yes our passes must be more or less the same model. My transom has a little UR receiver (round black disc, 30mm dia or so). Bez have for years made a big safety point out of their use of IR not radio, and do in the literature that came with my pass (which I had to read t'other day to fix a glitch). Maybe they have changed recently, or maybe s/seeker retro-fit radio? I dunno. Does your remote work when not pointing at the transom then? Is your remote Bez branded? A little black thing slightly wedge shaped, with silver decal front and 8 buttons?

Oo'er? No, I dont have the round 30mm black disc (receiver?), maybe yours is IR then? Does the black disc have a reflector hood over it?
My remotes are white and rectangle with the various directional buttons and work without pointing at transom, dont have a pic but might find one on the net. They are original Besz and the programming box for them in the engine room is also Besz branded. Back to the boat on Friday so will get model number.

Actually the one on this boat is the new version without the hood but it's still IR. My prev sq58s had the little hood. Your radio ones are very surprising. Besz website says on the introductory page to the gangways section: "The remote controls all work strictly by infrared rays for maximum operating safety" and they have made that comment in their promotional material for many many years.

Are you sure yours isn't Opacmare? S/seeker fit both Opac and Bez. Opac is radio controlled. Or have sunseeker done a retrofit radio control to Besz (which seems a lot of effort!)?

Positive not Opacmare, Yep, I know about Besz always using IR, this will be interesting, either they have changed their direction on safety etc, the yard has done a retrofit or I am losing the plot! I am there tomorrow...........

What have I started ? ....

Exactly. I have the hooded receiver and the remote is somewhere onboard. I had no idea there was a control box or why I'd worry about IR versus wireless.

Now I've read this thread I'll obviously have to spend hours faffing to make sure it all works when it hasn't been out of its garage in 12 months...

I'm amazed MYAG but yes that looks like original Besz and radio, down to the "RF" in the model number. That CT6A4 RF is the model # of the control unit, not the passerelle. Amazing that they would on their own website criticise safety-wise a product they themselves make! That big control box looks same as mine incl the keys and the 5 leds, except for the "RF" bit. There are car-type blade fuses in there BTW in case you ever get a non-working passerelle. You'll have the pleasure of not needing to point and aim the remote accurately!

Just seen this. I also wasn't aware of RF Besenzoni remotes, but I'm not so surprised either.
They actually don't build ANY remote control components, and their supplier VaReL builds both IR and RF, so for them surely it's no big deal to fit either.
I don't think they supply the RF version to general public, though.
But who are they to argue, if a famous builder insists that it's too complicated for his clients to point the IR thing... :p
...I'll get my coat! :D

I know you have been busy enjoying yourself !, but, any joy on the manual ?

If you still have the remotes, I think I should take them off your hands, just to have some spares.
