Has anyone any experience of these yachts, in particular are they OK on a drying mooring, and what kind of sailing performance do they have.

Thanks

Spelling slightly wrong should be Baroudeur. Google it and you will get 3 for sale. Probably near to the entire UK population. Remember seeing them when they were new (30+ years ago!) but never caught on here. Funny and French and probably very expensive. Have seen lots in France where they were very popular in places like Britanny. Shallow draft, long keel, probably limited sailing ability with small rig. OK for drying if in mud or with legs. If in good nick would make good day boat weekender in estuary waters. Important to have a good engine.

Agree with Tranona, except I think performance probably better than he suggests, though I have no actual experience of this.

We were seriously tempted to buy one a little while ago, and researched through the internet. Seem to be quite a few not just in France but also Belgium and Netherlands. Was part of the range that turned Beneteau from relatively small into the big league of manufactureres, so they were obviously doing something right for the time.

Nice looking boat in the flesh (at least to our eyes). Imaginative, attractive open interior with four vertical chromed tubes supporting deck/mast (and providing hand-holds) instead of central tube or bulkhead. Lightly built (not much in the way of backing for cleats etc.).

Note there are at least two, probably three versions. One (later version think) has a bow platform projecting forward of the hull. There are also two different window styles.

Engine compartment is accessed via lifting hatch in cockpit sole. The long keel has pronounced 'drag' - i.e. the bottom of the keel slopes down towards the rear - mixed blessing for drying out - good if you're on a sloping bottom facing the right way! (Assuming you've got legs.)

Hoskyns Yacht Directories says of the Barouder "Early 70's Beneteau trad. long fastish cruiser. Well finished quite roomy interior."
