Can anyone tell me what the original spec for the propeller is on this model running an inboard Volvo Penta TAMD41 200bhp 6-cylinder engine with prop shaft?

Currently, it has a 4-blade prop, but I have been told that it was changed to explore the rivers of France.

Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Keith

Beneteau will be able to tell you.
Contact your local dealer and ask them to find out or go directly to Beneteau themselves.

Alternatively give the boat, gear box and engine details to a propeller specialist and they will tell you the best prop straight away.

They do have a 4 blader as standard, whether it's the same pitch, and or diameter 4 blader that's on there now is the question, If the boat runs at around 15 17 kts at max revs then it has the correct prop.

Beneteau Antares 800 propeller

Thanks for the replies. The boat is quoted as cruises at 10knts with max speed of 16. So, I guess I don't have to worry about it too much.

Thanks again,

they are only a semi planning hull so dont plane as such.!

Paul has the modern Jeanneau version with a 200Hp and I have the fractionally smaller one with a 175Hp.

My boat, light, will top out at about 23 knots and loaded at 21.

Paul's will cruise at 16 to 17 knots without too many issues.

They are, actually, semi displacement hulls, not that this is particularly important.

semi displacement semi planning, same difference just different wording..

the point is that it does not have to get up and over the bow wave to obtain max effeciency so speed is not such an issue.

i would have though you have the wrong prop on summer wine, you should be getting more speed tops probably 22.knts.

the prop that was put on for the canals was probably designed for slow running with less of a pitch for the purpose.

as suggested check with beneteau.

Thanks again for all your replies. When I initially spotted this boat for sale I thought it was a bit light in terms of speed, if only by comparing it to other boats of a similar size, engine and hull and displacement type. But then as I'm completely new to boating, was happy to believe that it was ok.

It was then that the previous owner told me about the propeller change.

I've tried contacting Beneteau through two agents (Beneteau themselves won't entertain any technical questions put directly to them - so their web site says). Both agents said that they couldn't help.

I'll try contacting Beneteau again, but failing that will run it by a propeller supplier/manufacturer.

Kind Regards,
Keith

Just to let everyone know that I finally found a Beneteau dealer that was prepared to spend 5 minutes looking up the spec on a database. Many thanks to Richard Herbert of Bates Wharf, Eastbourne.

For those interested, this is the spec -
430x380
Left hand screw
40/80
