Been banned from marina!!

Accept! an apology and carry on boating, when the next big day occurs count the entrances paid and send these to the tax authority for checking against his books in the following years. Discover rare orchids on his land where the development is due to take place. Contact the local council health and safety officer (Usually the environmental health director) and ask about the risk assesment you carried out regarding the possible danger to boating individuals from casting fishermen, one has to go! check out the distance between the caravans and ask the local council what the correct distance should be for fire regs. Check that nobody goes over the stated period of habitation of any of the Holiday homes. Ask for drainage containment checks to sewage pipes discharging into the ground (they grow like topsy in caravan sites and never hold water) Check with the local council re the original planning permission notify them of any deviations! but whatever you do don`t be vindictive /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif)) I am sure that others can suggest other similar actions.

Thanks everyone.

I'm going to forget the incident. It seems the ban was more an outburst said in the heat of the moment, not very professional, but it's how some people react to stress. The marina have since informed me I am no longer banned!

I am going to leave the boat where it is for now, I don't have time to go looking for new moorings due to business commitments. When the mooring comes to an end in November I'll look at the options or maybe even sell the boat. The whole episode has put my wife off boating for good.

Hang on a sec..

The 'Management' brought 5 heavies on to the plot not only to threaten you, but your wife and five year old child. As it happened you took the hint and walked away. ok.

But if you had not, or the kid had run off back toward the boat. What then, would these 'heavies' grabbed' your child or your wife if she refused to move....

And, you are staying there, are you daft or something (said constructively). Do you really think now you will be able to relax around the marina, ask for any services etc.

My boat would already be somewhere else but that kind of place, please name so I can avoid if I sail down that way.

Sorry if this offends, but I really can not believe your laid back attitude over what was basically a threat of harm to you and your kin....

"Please name"

Billing Aquadrome - mentioned very early on in thread. I've already got the name tucked away, as a club member mentioned it some time back as a possible venue for an AGM meet. I didn't think much of them at the time I tried to get venue details from them - decidedly unhelpful. They are even further down list now. Amazing how little details like this get tucked away, and influence purchasing decisions, even if one sided.

Woof, I can see what you are saying and believe me we don't want to go back and have not been back since this incident. My problem is we are on the River Nene which has very few facilities for boating. Our only other real choice is to join Northampton boat club and apply for a mooring at their site. But this means jumping though hoops and appearing before "the board". We boat for fun in our lesuire time and as a business owner I don't get much lesuire time. I don't want to have to take all sorts of entry exams just to get a mooring.

There is only one other marina on the whole river at Oundle. They have very basic facilities (no electricty, no floating pontoons (so when it floods your boat is pulled down).

So I am left in the position of leaving the boat where it is, moving to an inferior marina, joining a boat club or getting my boat on a transporter and going to a different waterway. All of which will take time that I don't have at the moment. Although the last option looks the most inviting at present and we are looking at maybe moving to the Great Ouse or the Norfolk Broads.

I may seem laid back about it, but I am still very annoyed about the whole incident and still can't even bring myself to set foot in the marina again.

As already mentioned the marina is Billing Aquadrome in Northampton. It seems the caravan and camping park attracts a lot of "youths" who drink larger and become loud mouthed. We purchased our boat from them and have been there since April. At first it seemed an ideal location as we have young children who enjoy the facilities on offer. But this incident and the foul language of the owner has left a bitter taste and complaining seems to get you nowhere.
