I just glanced at The New Inn on Google Maps, and on clicking the location, the side-panel reads as follows:

...the critical bit being 'Opens 12 Jul'. Can that mean they'll soon be open again despite the bad news reported above, or is it a previous July's notice?

I drove past it yesterday, sign is repainted, fresh hanging baskets made. It was a bit early in the day to see if it was actually open.

And The Albion is now fully open. You need something with an N in the breeze, or a good anchor in a pure westerly. Bring your credit card and some clothes without holes, it’s pretty smart. Very nice looking, we will try it soon.

Obviously I know about Lee on Solent and the Osbourne View pub in Hillhead, but are there other pubs on the beach I can go to and anchor off, then paddle in the kayak to the pub.

Only with a paddleboard. I don’t even have think they accept dinghy’s for long.

It really was perfectly sufficient. I'm a greedy hog and I was very happy.

Having just bought a small 24ft mobo ... I look back at some of the spots I visited with my sailboat in UK and think this mobo would be absolutely ideal for ...

Was never a mobo person .. but this boat has sparked a definite interest.

As a kid ... on my Fathers boat - we would anchor in the creek and the walk the path along the bankside to the Pub. In those days - outisde was only a couple of benches along the wall and small narrow table ... certainly nothing like this photo ...
I used to sit there with bag of crisps and glass of cider.
