I can understand people choosing and loving both types but cannot understand many's intolerance to other preferences.
Never underestimate the number of people who buy a boat or a motorcycle to "tinker/repair" them and get endless hours of pleasure without actually sailing or riding them! For a number their choice is dictated by economics.
Manky Auld Boat - generally a more heavily built GRP boat from the 70's to 90's.
wish i never asked now
our boat mite be old but i wouldnt refer to it as "manky"

I can't understand, myself, why it is that Bavaria owners of the more hysterical sort always seem to want to compare their boats with thirty year old Westerlies, and not with more expensive modern boats. I don't think a thirty year old Bavaria would look too clever next to a brand new Centaur either ...
I think it's because they are responding to the hysterical rants of thirty year old Westerly owners.
How about historical?I don't consider myself hysterical!

um, what does mab stand for?
- I don't even like Contessas much.
