to do with LEL, the mixture levels, My apprentice night tech stuff taught us iirc 13% and it literally explodes! Anything else and it burns until the lel is reached. So put some coal gas in a tin, put lid on with hole in, light gas coming out of hole, it burns like a candle until lel reached when it explodes!With all due respect, that doesn't mean that the explosion was due to hydrogen. Battery chemistry ain't my thing, but it may be that a brief hydrogen burn touches off something more powerful.
