Bareboat in Med with novice friends - where?

Our Turkey flotilla was absolutely my favourite for scenery and sailing in peak season (August). I'd love to go back, not sure if recent politics has changed anything.
Saronic (West of Athens) had good sailing and pleasant locations.
Ionian very scenic but not a lot of sailing, lots of motoring.
All this with family of very average (minimal :)) competence.

Come to Mallorca - Our website below - fits the requirements short or longer passages loads of calas to anchor in & the food is great and varied
ionian great & would be my second choice

I know the OP said bareboat charter - but why take the stressful option? On your own with a novice crew who want short hops and lots of swimming at lunch time. Sounds like a flotilla would be the ideal option. Plenty of choice in Greece and no worries about planning routes and overnight stops. Ionian in September can have some good sailing.
That would be my option.

Lots of mentions for the Ionian. Would definitely recommend that. Lots of our sailing school students would get their Day Skipper completion card in their excited hands then next sailing holiday with family or friends go there. Lots of good feed back from them too. :encouragement:

The Kornati in Croatia!
Many islands, many turquoise blue bays, many buoy fields without worries with the anchor. Many old harbour towns. Useful sailing wind. Fair prices.
Start in Biograd.

Agree with the flotilla suggestion. We have our own boat but still take the odd flotilla. I think of it as a bit like valet parking. In the Ionian, if there’s no wind until lunchtime it’s annoying to have to be in port by 2pm to get a berth

On paper, the ionians are cheaper than Croatia, but there seems to be a lot of deals going in Croatia, especially split, and I’ve booked last minute in split with a 50% discount, and heavy discounts are sometimes available even in peak season. Hence one of the reasons we keep going back to Croatia.

- Ionian as suggested (from Corfu / Lefkada etc)
- Saronic / Argolic gulf (islands of Aigina, Poros, Spetses etc) from Athens
- Eastern Aegean from Kos / Leros marina
