As I have stated before my river bank is slightly higher than the land behind. This morning at 9am it is just peeping through which I estimate means the river has gone down around 8" in the last 18 hours or so.
Negligable change here below Penton. Still hooning through.
Have to say, I'm getting a bit brassed off with a handful of boats that have come out to have a look. They still expect to make 4-5 knots reletive to the land upstream and because of the speed of the stream they don't notice their wake running up the gardens of neighbours 5 mins after they have past. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
Here`s a before and after shot of the boatyard in Caversham (Reading)…this was yesterday and the level has dropped about 8” from it`s peak…..The before pic was taken about 2 weeks ago…..athough the whole yard was flooded it stopped just in time before serious damage was done ….well done the staff of Better Boating for their quick actions moving and making safe the boats …especially the ones on the Island……..
The moorings on the other side and down the river seem to be alright from where I am….thought a lot of the boats have gone …..as you can see from the pic the opposite bank is high and dry (the Tesco mooring is behind the boats) but not knowing the area I don`t know what access is like, …..
