Bank Holiday Weekend -any plans

Well a fine gentleman from Sussex has paid the broker his deposit and his surveyor calls tomorrow. The sales contract prevents me using the boat during the sales process, so that's my Bank Holiday plan gone. Glad I took the opportunity for a first trip out in early April.

Next week (and subject to the surveyor not condemning OB tomorrow) I may well be boatless, but not for once, potless.

I will wave as I de-store over the weekend if I see you pass. If you fancy it my berth will likely be available by mid May - speak to Anthony.

Looking at the forecast I think it's a no for us , which will give me some time to give the RS1800 a check over before we enter the Welsh forests in two weeks time, can't wait!!

They are moving more out the needles now

+1, I've seen cruise liners coming out past the Needles several times now.

Our own plan is a quick dash (well, dash by raggie standards, I plan at 5.5kt :) ) to St Vaast for a great big plateau de fruits de mer each, then turn round and head straight back the following morning. A scheme hatched back in the middle of winter, naturally!

It's become popular with the cruise liners, a much prettier exit and if going west far better, also frees up eastern solent exit for other bigger traffic

I'm not sure I've seen any of the big stuff go out through Hurst, to see the 3 Queens do that would be quite a sight.

We're heading off at about 2pm today.

I think maybe medium size ships can exit through Hurst, this one photographed last august...though looks pretty big

Good to hear people aren't letting the forecast get them down. Jurgen, I'll show you mine if you show me yours! (Sorry couldn't resist!) I think we will go and watch the Cruise Liners too.. thanks for the heads up. (Gotta love this forum.) Superheat, good luck with the sale and enjoy searching for that lovely Corvette... unless you are going to purchase the one mentioned previously?! Paul, will catch up next time.. enjoy fettling.

Long before I could afford to own a boat I was fishing at night at the end of Hurst Point. I was busy with a major tangle and looked up to see something like that gliding by, all lights blazing. A magical sight that is still with me 30 years later.

Holed up in Island a Harbour tonight. Two magical days so far having met up with friends. Weather not an issue! Heard a rumour that the wind is dropping tomorrow so may have a BBQ at Newtown before journeying home. Hope everyone else is having a good one,
