Hi All,

If anyone out there is doing a refit (preferably on a 'classic') and would like a Baby Blake head, I'm clearing my garage and have one in full working order (when it was removed from boat) and very good condition. I even have a couple of spare parts.

It's free to a good home, but would have to be collected from the Plymouth area.

Wow I am desperately looking for a babyblake for years now. They are either much too expensive or only available in the UK.

If you are so kind as to sell it to me I will find a way to get it (I have some friends in the UK, I could ask). If you think this is too complicated let me know.

As for the classic...
I own a little Brixham build gaff-cutter (www.sionnachan.de)

Hi,

I have to get mine out for an overhaul this winter. It has developed a little incontinence with a few leaks around the pumps, but I guess that is to be expected as the poor old thing is around 65 years old and needs to collect it's bus pass. (I can't wait to get round to cleaning off all that old stuff clagging it up!)

I can't ask you if I could take up your offer as Plymouth is too far, but am sure that someone will be very grateful to you. It is not often someone is as generous as you are being.

Regards, David

Hi Martin and David,

I'm very sorry but the BB was snapped up by another poster within a couple of hours!! From the PM's I've also had, I really wish I'd had a few more to give away.

If by any chance the others don't want it, I'll certainly get back to you chaps.

regards Jerry

Ooops!! Sorry David, I misread your post. Thank you for your very kind remarks. I just remember when I was struggling to fit out my first home built boat many, many years ago. One day an old chap shuffled along and tapped on the hull.

I popped my head out and he quietly handed me an old Walker towed log in it's box.

" Bet you ain't got round to gettin' one o' they yet, so you have this 'un from me young 'un "

Well, you can imagine my reaction! Here was a fabulous bit of equipment that at the time I couldn't possibly have afforded, and here was this elderly sailor handing it on, as it were, to the next generation. Thanks just wouldn't have been enough, but a huge hug was!!

That was about 36 years ago now, I still have the log and it has sailed aboard with me (though now now seldom used) for 10's of thousands of miles. All I'm doing David, is giving something I don't use, to someone who will hopefully make good use of it.

Nothing special, just doing the same as the old chap did for me.

Kind regards

Jerry
