Did not know there were such things. What are they used for?
Just saw a post about an ST 1000 on the same page. Seems his fuses were blowing when the tiller was at full stretch. As I have just connected mine I have not set it up yet but it was over steering so it could be that it was up against the stop.
Not you again? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I notice the recommended fuse in the supply to an ST1000 is 12amps that's despite the normal operating current being in the range 0.5 to 5amps but it is only 5 amps for the previous Autohelm 1000 Micro You don't say what yours is but check the installation instructions as that is where it'll tell you what fuse to put in the supply.
It's the ordinary bog standard fuses that are quick blow, time delay fuses (marked with a T) are available for use where motors etc take a very large starting current.
Cheers Vic, where would I be without you.
Bought it second hand so no installation instructions. Handbook has spec which states as you say around 1.5 amps. Figured this was an average load but did not know how much it would draw at maximum. 12 amps explains it. It is quite light gauge wire from the unit though. Do not want to melt it.
12 amp slow blow is what you need although I couldn't get any from the chandlers and even Maplins couldn't help, so eventually i wnet on ebay and got a pack for a couple of quid including postage.
The ST 1000 manual does say 12 amp and slow blow will cope with sudden surges
