I've put up with various kettles over the years that haven't whistled very well. You know the scenario, you go to put a cuppa on, then something crops up and 30 mins later you notice steam coming out of the companion way.

But finally I've found a good kettle, and only £15 or so - the Metallisk from IKEA. Loud and early whistle, in fact very loud.

So highly recommended.16907134276291403773290339579389.jpg

Have had the IKEA kettle for a few years now. The plastic knob on the whistle has long been replaced by a wooden door knob as it will eventually melt.

Good solid kettles with a decent whistle. Quality polished stainless which will keep its looks rather than the painted ones which quickly get scratched by the pan holders.

That handle needs a good whipping, or some other sort of cover, to avoid scorched hands, I suspect. The height and shape of the handle does not look like it makes for comfortable/ergonomic pouring, either.

The search for the perfect kettle continues.

Never had a problem with the handle.
