Likewise, I was thinking I'd be finished on Sunday, but a hole has just caught up with me and my speed has plummeted, so not so sure now.

Cheers
Al.
BTW, my nerves are shot to bits, and I've no nails left. This leading a race isn't good for your health is it. :(

I think you have enough speed to stay in front of the high. I was just too far behind you and MJM to follow so decided to go a bit further north and hope for a change in the weather. It did change but for the worse. I'm stuck in a high and it just keeps moving east with me.

I'm just praying I've got enough speed to stay ahead of you and MJM, to get home first. I never thought for a moment I could win, but now that I think I can, I keep doubting everything I do.

Cheers
Al.

I was within 31 miles of you at some point last night.. now the wind is dropping off rather quickly.. but it could all change with the next weather.. Spyro could find a way round

At the moment you are pulling ahead of me by about a mile each hour.. You currently have the wind more on the side.. I'm going as far downwind as I can manage and it's slow going.. Martin (MJM)

look you lot, I started off 3 days behind, and had several days of no internet access to compound things - I'm just amazed I'm not stuck on a shore somewhere, skipperless, or heading off towards Greenland, which actually happened at one point.....:)

Yip, I still think either of us could win. I'm now at the point where I really hope it's me.

Cheers
Al.

Think you have it pretty much sewn up now Al. Well done, not a foot wrong since rounding the mark in fact not much wrong since leaving the med, just far enough in front after Fernando to to stay ahead of trouble. MJM has landed in the poo like me and has it all to go through again. Managed to claw back about 80 miles from him today but still an awful lot more to get back. I'm watching my back now as Trev has some great wind which will fill in all the way to the finish.

Exactly.. Well done Alistairr :)
And yes... the lack of wind just overtook us and now we've got to get through it a second time.. It's looking so flukey ahead...

I'm not doing very well. It's better back here. I don't feel like getting up in the night to check my course.

It must be hard for Alistair. :)

Thanks guys. Still got to cross the line yet, but I have to admit now, it looks like I've done it. Can't really believe I'm going to win a leg.

Dipper, I didn't once need to get up in the middle of the night to check the boat, nor use any routing software, guess I was just lucky with the weather. :D

Cheers
Al.

Don't think you need to dipper, just keep heading upwind and tacking every 12 hours :)

Once I found myself well behind, I thought I had nothing to lose by taking a different route. I forgot how badly these boats sail to windward.
