Are you a twasack ?

"I really, really hate these crass people..."

How nice of you.

It seems that either slow or fast, anyone with a 35'+ power boat produces a big wash and is objectionable to you. I'm imagining the creation of a communist vegan lake nirvana powered by sky farts. I'd even visit every now and then.

"annoying", "I have to live with that as I pass through", "I found myself deep in twazzock territory", "snooty and unfriendly"

Aww... come here and give us a hug!

I found your video very funny tho! Thanks. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I posted an angry reply on youtube then deleted it.

I thought you had a very good point but made it badly. I think I did the same with my comment so had to delete it or be a hypocrite.

"snooty and unfriendly"
You got a cheery wave off the lady in the rib. Did you wave back?
At first glance it looks like you sped up some of the footage but I think that some of the boats were just so far away that you had to use maximum zoom which gives that effect.
There were only two twasacks in the clip...the guy with the red Arvor and the one holding the camera.

what I object to is the person who thinks that it is the place to let rip with his twin 500hp diesels, shove his 35 footer up on a plane and produce a three foot wash travelling at 20 knots across a a small estuary

That isn't quite what you said in the video, which was
"What I really hate is a bloke who wants a 35ft boat that planes".

Well, I have a 29ft boat that planes, and I would like a 35ft one for the extra cabin space one day, so that must be me.

Somewhat ironically, both "planing" boats featured in your video (I can't be sure, but one looked like a Fairline 36, the other a Broom 42) are at the practical end of the cruising motorboat market, and not the sort of thing that your stereotypical medallion man would be attracted to at all. You can almost see the bone china tea set through the net curtains on that Broom.

Another note on horsepower: typically a 35ft planing boat might have twin diesels of anywhere between 200 and 300hp. Twin 500's and it's going to be a contender for Cowes to Torquay.

That red Arvor at the end was much too close for comfort, though.

Sorry I made your point badly! Maybe you'd like to make it for yourself?

Not you, the chap on youtube!

Gee the yotties really get off their bikes about moboer's.

I had a look on scuttlebutt yesterday for the first time, I was curious to know why they kept coming over to this forum to lay the boot in.

They seem to get themselves into a real lather, and unfortunately I couldn't resist the temptation to make a comment. I got picked up on a spelling mistake, I think.

Hallmarks of a Religious Raggie

I was a Raggie for years before I bought a mobo but never a Religious one - secretly I liked the forbidden fruit that was a motorboat but dare not speak in tongues of such things whilst folding the mainsail in the pouring rain.

"Cardinal Marks" here is typical of some of the more devout Raggies - the elder Commodores always told us at Sailing School Mobos were heathens ... drummed into you from an early age it was :

"And lo unto us cometh a Mobo ... watch closely to try and see his sins and how he appears to be enjoying himself - for he will reach the communion wine before sunset and none will be left for us.

Hark at the hideous throbbing of his twin Volvos as they part the seas with Red Diesel leaving us only with the wash of the Devil.

He shalt not leave a fender over the Starboard side without us talking about it for 40 days and 40 nights ... or indeed discuss how he came upon enough gold and silver to purchase such treasure - for he must surely be a dealer of drugs?

The path of righteousness lies in the way of the Raggie - for although our craft may also be of plastic and heavy metals, we go slowly so have much time to discuss the misguided souls who cross our path.

Like those in the 4x4 brigade who journey across our land - we should forgive them for they know not what they do.

Our path may be long as we are but doing 2 knots in the wrong direction - but when in doubt we can also use our engine ... but this is not a sin for we are the chosen ones."

So ... Forgive me Father I have sinned and bought a Mobo /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Very good Alan, I like it a lot. Did I detect a bit of inspiration from a 'wee free' church service in that?
Good to see you've seen the light

I must have been paying attention at Sunday School - which was probably the last time I was in a Church (apart from when SWMBO dragged me up the aisle)

Are the Wee Free's still shutting curtains & tying up the kids swings on a Sunday ?

Seem to remember that from a Raggie trip in the far Northwest one year. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
