Are Volvo Penta in the real world

If it was so excellent as I am sure it was why not offer to pay for it

I think that a lot of people here have paid VP however there are a few other posters ie Spannerman etc that are also pleased to contribute free but highly valued advice which is appreciated more than someone belching controversy.

I've been on this forum for 12 years now with a personal policy of expressing gratitude for things I appreciate and avoiding pissing matches. It takes a really obtuse frame of mind to interpret what I said as anything other than a compliment to Paul, an appreciation of the value for money of the extensive paid work he has done for me and in addition the free advice and trouble shooting he has done over the phone (I am in Hampshire, he is in the East Midlands a lot of the time). I'm out of this thread.

You have a good contribution to the forum and know your fletchers ,and sealine soon ,so just try and be more friendly and help make the forum a great place to talk. SS

Did you bother to read the reason I said what I said to VP

Many thanks for that comment it is much appreciated.

Regarding the more friendly comment if you look back at the various threads I have started which generally have been started to generate comment on controversial subjects you will see that I am generally 'attacked' by the same people at some point. Once this happens I will respond. I have never been one to hide in the shadows or follow the crowd. This is not in my nature and never will be

As far as I’m am aware no one has paid me for information on here , it’s given by myself fir free.
However from memory 2 people have paid for consulting work via emails of the last umpteen years . The proceeds from this have gone straight to my Daughter charity in Gambia , if the 2 known people read this they will back me up.
I have many clients from this forum , rest assured they know they will always get my advice for free , it’s part of the job , helping people is what I do and enjoy .

In past years there have been the odd few that like to have a go , it’s funny then to see a post from them on VP related issues appear , my memory is usually good on people.
The way I deal with it is my choice , usually the post is ignored.
That’s not in spite but in principal.

Stuart Wineberg you are a true gent , even now your boating on the dark side .

Btw Scottie this is not a pop at you , just a way back in this thread as you could put it .

Having read what I said earlier it’s obvious to me that I muddied the waters somewhat.

My intention was to suggest that you had a number of paying customers but were pleased to offer free impartial advice on this forum which is most commendable and to hear that you have donated fees for consultation to charity is even more so

Another recommendation for a very professional marine engineer.

Couldnt agree more. Paul has been generous with his advice on here and on the phone to me over the years, despte the fact that largley due to geography, I was not a paying customer untill last year, when he did a mechanical survey on the south coast for us.

To balance things out I have a criticism for VP........he doesn’t come to the Isle of Man enough.

Last time was the Rally being cancelled......what sort of excuse is that! :D:D:D

The Isle of Man tourist board , along with the local motor club cost me money last year , hence or championship won’t be bothering again , we’re going to Ulster instead , let’s hope the tables turn for 2020 and I can get a run at Tholt y will , Brandywell cottage and some of the TT course.

It was an almighty cock up Paul....no doubt about that....they should have covered costs....a real shame. I was looking forward to beers!

I avoid brandywell...too bumpy. You rally boys are a bit mental though :)

Maybe three people VP...

VP helped me out free of charge by visiting my boat to check the skin fittings a few years ago, and to show my appreciation a donation was made to VP daughter's charity. Again big thank you and like many others always value VP professional opinion.

I am glad to have started this thread and facilitated the VP love in event...……… I would like to join everyone in adding my adoration
