AIS is on my list of nice things to have but I want the transponder one, preferably class A so the big ships cant filter me out!

Nope... you need eyes up the front to ward off bad joss
And 4 eyes better than 2 eyes.... sighted
in NZ a few years back.... looks like the originals had cataracts ...Attachments

I know that people who should know, say that they do this, but how does it fit with using "all available means" to determine the risk of collision?
The conclusions of the article depend on whether YM receives more advertising revenue from AIS ads or radar ones..

I once spotted a lovely classic wooden motor boat in Chatham Marina, which had obviously been carefully restored, but the nav lights on the cabin side were the wrong way round!!

I have both. Radar used twice in three years just to see if it works, AIS switched on so that friends and family know were I am. Should things go "pete tong", the CG should have more info about what I'm doing when I hit the wee red button.

Dr Strabismus (whom God preserve) came from Utrecht, but I don't think that his century of existence was mentioned.
