Anyone with an intimate knowledge of a Sigma 33 Headlining??

We would like to replace one of or winches beside the cockpit hatch to a self tailer. It is presently on the starboard side. My boat is 100 miles away,its cold and i'm lazy . I'm trying to figure out if its easy to replace? Lewmar say the base plate/bolt holes are the same. Does anyone know how or what the bolts are attached to? Would I have to remove the headlining to get to the nuts below or is there a threaded plate the bolts go into? Is there a panel that can be moved?? Any thoughts or advise would be very appreciated...Nik

Not familiar with your boat, but almost certainly there are nuts rather than a threaded plate, the nuts will bed onto very large washers or a plate of some sort

Assuming the headlining on a 362 is done the same as a 33, I may be of some help. On a Sigma 362, the headlining is panels of plywood with plastic headlining glued to them. These panels are screwed to battens etc under the coachroof, with the screws disguised by plastic bits. I have upgraded both Genoa sheet winches on the cockpit foaming and the halyard etc winches which are mounted on the coachroof and they were all secured by nuts and bolts, penny washers spreading the load on to plywood pads glassed in.

When I replaced my winches, admittedly with second hand ones, the bolt holes did not match the old ones exactly, on either the Lewmar 43's, or the 30's.

Skip has it right; screw fixed lining panels on ply, easy to remove and refit, winches bolted through ply plates glassed in to underside of moulding, almost certain you will have to reposition bolt holes but not that hard to do and well worth it for the handiness of a self tailer.
You will need a tube of that green Plastic Padding polyester resin with fibres in to fill the redundant holes but shortly someone will be along to tell you you must use epoxy!

The bolt holes didn't match when I replaced a Lewmar 30 with an Evo ST 30 despite the man from Lewmar's assurances.
