Does it come off easily? How is it done? What's the mess left behind like and how is it best dealt with?

The idea is to replace with new the same. It's laid onto wood planks.

Thanks

I just painted mine with the 'proper' paint from Treadmaster. Normally v. expensive but found some in a sale. I am astonished at how good it now looks although obvously time will tell if it wears well. I'm just mentioning this in case paint would be a more economical option for you.

Am in the middle of this, not too bad if you use a hotair gun and take it slow. I guess it should be easier if you are putting it back. I am painting some parts so surface has to be perfect.

Not Easy!!!!, particularly if it has been laid proper like!, got thumped in the stern a year or so back and pushpit and Treadmaster damaged....took me three days of heat gun, chisel( which blunted quickly,) and belt sander to get good enough surface for repair work.. Tony W.

Seem to be different experiences

Thanks for the responses, some people seem to have found it easier than others, is the problem getting it off in the first place, or in cleaning the deck afterwards?

This stuff is VERY old, the boat is a retired lifeboat, but I could not say when the deck treatment was done or whether it is original to the boat, probably not.

The more information the better. I plan to have a yard do it, but I'm very interested in trying to work out how difficult and expensive it will be!
