Anyone know what this motorboat is in Howards Way

Yes Stewart, that came from a another small boatbuilder. Can't remember the name . I sure someone on here will know. These are boats supplied by Collman when I worked there, the Pelican was not..

I think Jack Rolf ( Glyn Owen ) bought the Pelican from the BBC at the end of the series 3. And he had it moored on the Hamble somewhere.

It's worth a re-visit if watched on a screen that isn't too large.
It doesn't look good on a 65" OLED if you are used to 4k content.

That’s the problem….. TV tech has improved 1000x over the last 30years and the content quality has halved over the same time.

Pretty sure it was a Pelican 21, the moulds did the rounds, I think a builder in Southampton popped out a few as well as a Thames Boatbuilder at Thames Ditton who produced the Profile 33 at the same time, well the last yard to build the Profile as it also had quite a history of different yards if I recall.

I did a two-week work placement at Quay Marine shortly after Howards Way had finished but still with Coleman there, was a larger-than-life character in the works department, wasn't the most friendly of chaps, I hope it wasn't you I seem to recall having to go to the pub next door if I needed to talk to someone at lunch!

The acual fletcher 28 used had twin big block Volvo Penta V8 . I went to Brighton and back in that. One of the quickest boats i been on as it waa just a bare shell. In that during filming when I was at Quay Marine.
Other boats used from Chris Collman was Gobbi 28, Quayline 16/18. A Sea Ray 350. Fletcher Arrow bolt. The two sealine 285, one Sea gypsy Volvo 212 v8. Plus another 285 that was Collmans own boat. From which Kens Masters is seen on the Beaulieu River and ended on top of Sarah Foster on the rear sunbed. Scene.

There was a larger Sealine also, 328 Ambassador I think, also a Fairline 36 Turbo and I'm pretty sure there was a Princess 45 in there too (long time since I saw it) and a Sea Ray 390 Express Cruiser.

That workshop tyrant was JW came across him when Collman operated out of Christchurch 1980s.

What was the make of those awful American boats they sold. The ones that fell apart if you hit a wave, customers didn't realise they were buying a kit.

Finest 80s potatovision courtesy of non-remastered video; smear your glasses(or the TV screen) with a thin layer of vaseline to get the same effect for other programmes. ?

Trying to think who you were now? Jim Warren was our Service manger who I would guarantee. you would be talking about. Not me.! Lol. Them two were well suited to each other. Chris Collman could be quite a handful. But he started my career, although I had just been working at Penton Hook 2 years before.

He went to Spain with collman after Sealine Sales took over In 1991. Then they fell out. And JW can back here. I think he back in Christchurch now.

Yes, the spinnaker pub next was Quay Marine was the second office. Not much work would get down in the afternoon!
