Anyone know a boat called 'Shady Lady'

A brief Mayday call was heard this morning by the coastguard on the Scilly aerial . . . . . searches are ongoing anyone with information please let the coastguard know

If he and his lovely wife Kath still have her Shady Lady was up the Hamble and belonged to Clive and Kath Stratton of the Nauticat Brokerage. She is a Gibsea 96 Master.

I hope its not them, and whoever it is I hope it turns out well.

A very long time ago we met a Doctor and his wife on an older Dufour30 something in south Brittany, IIRC correctly they came from Fowey. the boat was painted with wide horizontal stripes in every colour available, like one in an International Paints advert at the time. Almost certainly will have changed hands since then but may still be local to Cornwall.

Now found, and rescued.

"A skipper whose vessel had lost its rudder off the Isles of Scilly has just been found following an intensive search.
The search, which involved 40 people included the St Marys, St Agnes, Tresco and St Martins Coastguard Rescue Teams, the St Marys RNLI Lifeboat, two rescue helicopters from RNAS Culdrose, the Coastguard fixed wing counter pollution aircraft and merchant vessels, began at 7.40 am when a weak mayday broadcast was picked up by the UK Coastguard.
Tago McLeod for the UK Coastguard says:
“When the mayday message was broadcast, it was extremely faint. We knew the name of the vessel and that it was somewhere in the vicinity of the Isles of Scilly, but other than that our information was pretty sparse. Of course the Isles of Scilly are made up of lots of inlets and coves so searching without much detail is quite challenging. Through this morning the coastguard rescue teams have been scouring the islands and the lifeboat has been searching out to sea. We’ve also been joined by the three aircraft which have been able to get the bird’s eye view.
“Along with the on scene searching, we’ve also been making broadcasts to all shipping asking for them to keep a sharp look out for the vessel. It is this action which finally paid off this afternoon, when a commercial vessel found the yacht and its skipper. The RNAS helicopter R194 airlifted the skipper from his vessel and he has been taken back to land. The vessel, a sloop which had lost its rudder, is currently being recovered by the lifeboat.”

So good to see that boat and crew are well.
EPIRB, anyone?

Or a DSC VHF or even a decent VHF - There must be plenty shipping round (its a TSS) there that should have been able to pick up their signal. But at 17NM from the islands from a yacht mast to a CG tower I'd have expected to be do-able. Gut feel might have been this was a HH?
