Anyone in Lanzarote?

I have just been booked onto a last minute long weekend and was wondering if anyone had any experience of sailing at this time of year in Lanzarote?

I can see that there are a few "excursions" but tbh I would rather find a boat I can play with.

Hiya. Two kinda chances.

If you want a yacht for a few hours, try Endeavour Sailing at Puerto Calero. They may do a half day charter, but dont expect cheap! Also Lava Charters at Marina Lanzarote in Arecife.

If you want a dinghy, try Marina Rubicon at Playa Blanca.

Best thing for a long weekend is a bar crawl!!

Try this non boaty venue. At the top of the Gran Hotel in Arecife (the only high rise on the island) is a restaurant. 17th floor. Floor to ceiling glass and top place for afternoon tea and sticky cake looking out over the airport to Fuertaventura. Everyone we have taken there loves it!

For a boaty thing but without you driving, the ferry from Orzola on the North end of the island to the smaller island of Graciosa is a good hit too.

I don't know about sailing 'cos it might be a bit chilly and very windy .... but a trip to the restaurant at the top of the volcano will enable to have your chicken cooked directly over a vent from the inferno beneath your feet. Now that's what I call a barbecue. :encouragement:

But not bad at all actually. We went in March many years ago and had to keep our fleeces on.

Been there in January 2017. Flew to a boat in Rubicon for some maintenance work (new batteries, and shenanigans with getting them released from the import agent), then took it out for a spin to anchor just off Playa Blanca. Weather was mild, touching 20°C air temperature, and water just warm enough for a short swim. Lots to explore on the island (get the all attractions ticket, rather than paying for each), best done by rental car. Look up César Manrique before you go. Loved the lava landscapes.

Actually thats about right, mid February and into March often is not the warmest. If you are ashore in the sun its lovely but out on the water it has a chill.

I just got back last night Generally Bf 3/4 maybe 4 and 5 for shortish periods some cloud some very pleasant weather 17 to 20 deg On the water obviously gets cool and after 1530 heat not In The sun.
But swam (vigoursly) most days - little other sailing going on Endeavour as mentioned i would think If your really keen drop me a line and I’ll take a look on the charter portals (what the agents book on) to see what is offered for now

Been out in Jan / Feb a couple of times and it can be a bit chilly but compared to UK, it's positively balmy. Off out to Endeavour again beginning of march for round the island. Can't wait!!!

Sailed from Gib to Rubicon couple of weeks ago and it was great.Canaries always interesting sailing with acceleration zones and prevailing winds but no reason why you shouldn’t go sailing this time of year and enough of interest around Lanzarote. Isla Lobos, Formentara and my favourite Graciosa.Not sure sailing Boats can use little harbour/ marina there.Spent many weeks tied up there.

In breaking news, the new shower block is almost finished! Mind you in Canarian terms, that could mean, well, sometime....

Dont know if you recall, but just off the brow that leads from the pontoons onto land, there are a couple of bars that open for breakfast. Just order a coffeee or two and use their heads. Wifi will get you the weather forecast too.

Then nip along to the Bakers and get the sticky buns for ten o clockers!
