Anyone going to SIBS?

Hi, Jim. I, too, am contemplating going to SIBS on the last Saturday, though this does at the moment depend on not having to ferry No 1 Son to a University open day of any description. Subject to that, I would very much like to renew auld acquaintance. Any chance of meeting up at some point, either for a drink, or to gate crash your dinner?

I know I'm not strictly kosher East Coast but I have been sailing with Phoenix of Hamble and my old man did keep his East Anglian One Design at Brightlingsea in the early sixties... :)

I met him when he was NAS - he still is in my phone contacts. He came sailing with me in Burnham Week 2005. Just before he became Magna Carter.

Blimey, that takes me back. I first met Neil not long after that, when he and I crewed for Stugeron Steve on the 2005 Scuttlebutt Cherbourg trip - we (well, I :)) covered Steve's jib sheets in tomato soup and flung one of his winch handles overboard. Happy days.

And you're right, he was NAS then: I'd forgotten that.

Funnily enough, I swapped emails with Steve a few weeks back... he is well, and seemingly enjoying life!

Glad to hear that. I haven't been in touch with him for a while and Two J's doesn't seem to be at Buckler's Hard any more so I was wondering what he was up to.

That was good fun, and very satisfying...

Meal offer is v. tempting, although we are partially committed to an evening meal at RSYC with the IP lot, as a friend is giving a talk there. If that doesn't happen then we are free - we are staying in Portsmouth overnight so no rush to get back. Will keep you updated.
 
Was looking at popping down on Wednesday with daughter, but it looks as though the on-line tickets have leapt up to £20 a go, and the family ticket at £30 seems to have gone as well. Even the RYA discounted deal has expired. Unless there are any late changes to pricing, this tips the decision over the edge for me (unless anyone knows of any other way of getting reasonably priced tickets?).
