Any idea what this is?

A injury to my wife meant that she had to cry off on a sailing trip this weekend so I decided to use the time to clear out and reorganise the storage on my Southerly 100. When I bought the boat there was a stainless steel folding item, about 70cm x 90cm when unfolded. Veyy heavy construction. It looks custom made with a bespoke shape at one end. My first thought was that it was a life raft bracket of some sort but not convinced.

Any ideas?

If you bin it you will find out soon enough as you discover the job that would require exactly that tool.

Good idea, I had not thought of that but I can not see how it would be used.

Take it home and store in the garage for many years or until you sell the boat.
Is there a southerly owners association that might be able to give an answer ?

Yup, it's for fastening, with a padlock, to the fittings at the sides and bottom of the 2nd picture.
