Greetings all,

A quesion on Antifouling boats kept in the Med. A friends boat will only go in the water 4 times a year for 1-2weeks at a time. The marina cranes it in and takes it out with a wash down. The boat is then kept in a wearhouse. It's new a new boat, so,as yet has no Antifouling on it.....so, would you antifoul it?.

Cheers.

Paul.

Well, if my experience in South of France last year is at all representative, a properly antifouled boat will get badly fouled in a matter of only a few weeks so I would advise your friend to get his boat antifouled. Btw I'm told dark coloured antifouls work better than light ones

i think you will be ok with no antifoul. Af paint is for boats that stay in month after month after month - mine in for 18 months and now due, for example. But make 2 weeks your maximum and keep an eye on it. Note that a quick wipe down underwater with diving/swimming goggles is easy peasy in med - nice occupation whilst having a dip at anchor.

my guys in Alicante said no for a few weeks in the water, but yes if left in for longer, easy to wipe off in any event, save the money,

I would say you only need a/f if it's in for 3 weeks +. If it comes out as you say you dont need it imho
