10knts at 10 ltrs x2 engines = 10knt miles in an hr for for 20 ltrs fuel

20knts at 25 ltrs an hr x2 engines = 20knt miles in an hr for 50 ltrs fuel

So traveling at 10knts is 25% more efficient than traveling at 20knts

Am I right there?
Yep the table shows:
  • 20l for 10nm i.e. 2.25 nmpg
  • 50l for 20nm i.e. 1.8 nmpg
However at 10kn you are in no mans land between displacement and planning, just pushing a big bow wave on these, so I would either throttle back to 8kn and get around 3.6 nmpg or push onto the plane proper at above 14kn where the consumption will be roughly 1.8 nmpg all the way up to 22kn and the ride will be much better than at 10kn

All calcs above obvs are estimates and effected by conditions of boat and sea :)

Now that’s what I’m talking about!!!

Yeah I’m convinced it’s my next boat, just gotta work the numbers and sell the kidney, would love it for next summer.

Bangor to Bangor sounds like a great trip, I’m all in for that.
