Another whereisit

Good to see there are still adventurous souls about!
Quite right - the Colne, just below the head of navigation (with a mast) at Colchester. Best water is near the wall along that bit, as I recall.
There's not really a pooage outfall is there? I thought that wasn't allowed these days.

I'll have a scratch round in my pic library later and try to find one that might go unsolved for longer next time........
 
It's the Hythe At Colchester...

I find the names up there confusing. I thought 'The Hythe' is the stretch of wharf above the road bridge. The derelict one in the pic is way below that. Most of the moorings and the visitor pontoon are along King Edward Quay, below the road bridge, and beyond the bend in the pic.
 
A quick look on Google earth shows the outfall in action at low water, the mudbank just up-riverwhere I stuck for a while, and the treatment plant on the other side of the buildings. I assume the outfall is fully treated water as I don't recall many gulls there. It might also include piped run-off from Distillery Pond a bit nearer the town centre.
