Ancasta have decided not to show their Bavaria mobo range at LIBS next Jan due to 'adjusted buying trends' and will be doing their own regional shows. Story HERE

Last time I went only bavaria, island packet and a few jeanneaus pitch up anyway

Hmm ok... have you seen the latest plans? there are a few holes but it will be no different to previous years.

I think I will not bother this year then.
2009 seems like the time to experience Dusseldorf. I am not buying, so might as well go and look at some weird and wonderful stuff for interest.

Dusseldorf is not want you think it will be, yes loads of halls BUT many halls of fishing gear, diving gear, holiday gear, [--word removed--] gear etc.
Give Lbs a hard time but dusseldorf is not the answer, a very good show it is but its not a direct comparison to lbs and it would be very unfair to do so.
My opinion of course.

Going by the layout, I see:
2 Halls of kite-surfing/surfing/water-skiing stuff
1 Hall of scuba stuff
6 halls of motorboats, some sailboats & superyachts
1 Hall of trailable-type boats & jetskis
1 Hall of engines and technical accessories
2 Halls of equipment
1 Hall of canoes etc.
1 Hall of sailboats/multihulls
Yes - the comparism to LIBS is laughable - LIBS doesn't even come close. I'm going to Düsseldorf again (though doubt we'll be buying like we did last time). I still hadn't seen it all after 3 days last time around.

I think thats a bit much Richard.
You know I call onto the YBW stand when I can and I have been to the London and Southampton show doggedly for the past - oh i dont know, 12 years.
I am bored and tired of the same old show. If they would bring back some of the show from old EC ones - you know, a properly built marina village, or the high streets, or the abseiling PMs rather than big, brightly lit halls with the same boats in the same places as last year.
And FWIW I know Rick away from the forums, and in fact I count him amongst my best and closest friends and I can assure you he is one of the most chip free people I know.

You know what I actually thought he was a good chap BUT for some reason he has it in for me and I have no idea why.
I have been in this industry for many years and been to virtually every show throughout the world BUT rick p seems to know better regardless.
I used to really enjoy his posts in particular the west coast (usa) stuff but he seems to have an big issue with IPC and boat shows in general.
All i say is bugger off and enjoy the fabulous boat he is fortunate enough to own

Whatever the history, i think in this instance you seem to have taken a general comment about the dusseldorf content a bit personally.
I dont wish to fall out with you, so i hope you dont see this as taking sides. Its just how i see it and for whatever reason on this occasion I think you have overeated. i cant see anything where Rick has critised you, or LIBS for that matter. he just stated facts about Dusseldorf

No he has had a personal dig at me for about the last three months and I have no idea why.
I dont need to reply but this man has given me the arse, the only man ever to do so again I dont know why, he seems a pleasant chap with a lovely boat (ok a dodgy beard but..)

No I haven't. I did dare to disagree with you (as did many others) over the attendance at SIBS, but that certainly doesn't warrant such a childish attack from an IPC staff member.

Yes dussledorf is good BUT they have dropped 100k in 3 years? its a great show but its not lbs? you are the great british public so you should tell us what you want, do you ant one show, two shows or three show as there are now?
