jfm, if your still reading on a previous thread I said I didnt like white caulking, I've changed my mind since seeing these photos , I like both :)

FL
Because you have a white GRP boarder you get away without a boarder :)

petty, petty observation on the permateek.........

they have made end caps to cover the sharp knife end cuts.

If end caps are not used the sharp end cut can be chamfered and sanded so it becomes almost indistinguishable from teak, but accept its all about personal choice.

Elessar, I have a mix of end finishes on mine, most go into the corners and are filled, very easy to keep clean, the wind blows the muck out, job done !

I also have some purpose made gutters in the grp which I have retained, they fill up with muck (as they always have done pre teaky) and need a fresh water hose / damp sponge to clear, the gutters look nice when clean but over all the edge to edge look a better finish 90% of the time.

Me too on the white. JFM set up the shot and FL scored.

I'm having borders BTW the Chandlers had boarders :D

Depending on final price, I'm just about to give the go ahead for Permateek to do the swim platform and cockpit on my 2006 Monterey 250.

I'm really struggling with deciding black or cream caulk. The Regal in the pictures above looks great, but I have the black hull and black canopies on my boat. I'm also wondering how the white caulk might get marked with my kids on board!

Any thoughts? Boat has white GRP deck, white vinyl seats, black hull, black canopies.

Decisions, decisions!

With that colour scheme, definitely white imho (or cream if the white on your boat is cream, but I don't think it is)

Marks will clean off. With say acetone (applied carefully) if they're bad but usually wipe with damp cloth

Some pics of MRC's boat here

Just booked Permateek to sort the boat out next week. I'm having the same finish as Freeloaders Regal, with the cream caulking and lighter teak finish. Although I have the black hull/covers, I think the cream caulking will look good against the interior vinyls and as the boat is not massive (25' hull) I want to keep it as bright and airy inside as possible.

I've gone for no margin boards on the cockpit area (£400 cheaper than having the margin boards and I think Freeloaders Regal looks really good without - with all the seat legs, hatches etc in such as small area I think margin boards would look very fussy), but margin boards on the swim deck. The swim deck is pretty big on my boat compared to some on similar sized hulls and there are quite a few cut outs, drains and a hatch for the swim ladder. They are doing the three steps on the cabin door that leads up onto the bow plus they are doing the drain "step" with real teak and routering out the drainage as there won't actually be much material on this and it would look odd with caulking.

They're templating it up on Tuesday and fitting Friday! Can't wait to see the result.

+1, but fwiw I'd follow the same style also on the platform.
Dunno what 25' you're talking about, but can't think of any where the swim platform and the cockpit are so well separated to not look weird if made with a different style.
But each to their own, of course... :)
