We write to inform you that, in view of the likelihood that the insurers who underwrite Yachting24 being no
longer able to service UK contracts when the transition period of the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the
European Union ends, the elective decision has been made to close Yachting 24 for UK clients. This decision
has been made on commercial grounds as regrettably, it is not commercially viable for us to incorporate
Yachting24 into the UK

Had that as well. I'm surprised that the book hasn't been sold on.

Does the same thing apply to Pantaenius policy holders?

This is on Yachting24 web site

Currently YACHTING24 does not offer any new policies. Clients can rest assured that we will continue to service existing contracts until the next renewal date. Of course, our customer and claims service will also remain available to assist and support boat owners.

If you are considering to purchase boat insurance, we would like to extend our recommendation for Pantaenius, Europe’s leading specialist for boat and yacht insurance solutions.

I'm afraid this, the VAT status question, and the 90/180 day rule, are just tiny examples of the myriad inconveniences and difficulties which will arise as a result of the decision to leave the EU.

Brace yourselves chaps (and chapesses). It's going to be a bumpy ride.

Every generation has it's battles and the outcomes are by no means always bleak.

You're right. Obviously some lemmings survive the cliff jump.

Ahh yes, lemmings, enduring myths do tend to have a ring of truth around them .....even when they’re totally false,

Visitors to your homeland, Scotland, are often amazed to hear that the left legs of wild Scottish haggis are shorter than the right, a genetic adaptation which allows them to run around the Scottish hills without falling over. An adaptation exploited by the wily Highland hunters who seek to trap them!

Then there are the Norwegian lemmings whose unique method of population control is to fling themselves over a cliff en masse, except that the unfortunate animals were in reality tossed over the cliff by Disney filmmakers whilst making the 1958 film White Wilderness.

Kind of spoils it, doesn’t it?

As do the raw facts which destroy many of the anti-Brexit arguments.

Only the males ... and there are only 3 legs to ensure stability. The females have the shorter leg on the left, otherwise how would they ever meet? Trapping wild haggis has been outlawed for many years. They are now farmed with McSweens' farms being the best known (other breeders are available). Like Brexit they are supplied "oven-ready", i.e. totally uncooked , but unlike Brexit they have not been adulterated with bovine excrement.

Amusing for sure, but it's a mistake to look at everything through a gloomy Brexit lens. A ton of great investment opportunities have appeared over the past couple of years, offset by the traditional value sector whose problems have nothing to do with Brexit.

Similar great opportunities for students with expertise in AI, machine learning, maths, finance, science, amongst many other disciplines.

Now is always a good time to stop moaning and get on with it, especially the post-Brexit and soon to be post-pandemic now :) (y)

I think there's more to Yachting24 ceasing in the UK than Brexit. Why are Pantaenious continuing in the UK? Why aren't yachting 24 selling the book/business onto another insurer, or even a new entrant?

So a ton of opportunities arrived while we were still in the EU? Doesn't surprise me. We didn't need to leave the EU for there to be opportunities in sci/tech either.

Now is a good time to stop moaning only because we'll need to save it up for when the consequences of this asinine decision become real. That is what we're starting to see in this thread.

Again, show me one single, actual, real benefit from Brexit, other than keeping johnny foreigner out, but that does rather appear to have backfired for the Daily Mail crowd.

Brexit will offer great opportunities. The closed shop approach of the EU was confined to history after the failure of Communism.
Are you able to tell us what great opportunities have become available since Brexit that were not there before, and what great opportunities we might expect to become available in the future?

If you can't manage that, how about some small opportunities to be going on with?

How can Britain become Great Again if people like you keep knocking it? We've got blue passports, return of duty-free rip offs on X-channel ferries, a fantastic deal with Switzerland and the likelihood of plenty space in French marinas. The sunny uplands beckon.
