I know there is some debate about wiring anodes to seacocks. The previous owner has neatly circumvented the issue by wiring one in one hull and not in the other. The one which is wired goes to the battery negative which seems odd. The seacocks are newish DZR and I understand Vyv Cox,s excellent site correctly should not be wired. The props and sail drives both have their own anodes. Should the hull anodes be wired to anything? Do they serve any useful purpose? Is the world flat?

DZR needs no anode protection, it is highly resistant to corrosion. My Blake's seacocks are amongst the first DZR ones made, in 1984. All three of them survive in good condition.

Now that ball valves, skin fittings and hose tails are all available in DZR there is even less need to protect them with an anode than previously, although there is only a very small voltage between all of the copper alloys.

Over-riding all of this, what are you asking a zinc anode to do? The answer is protect the zinc phase in brass to prevent dezincification. This is clearly impossible as they are the same material.
