My boat is fitted with an anchor securing strap consisting of a steel wire with a spring clip at one end and the other end bolted on to the anchor winch. Unfortunately, when it's not attached to the anchor, it regularly gets tangled up with the anchor chain and finally, on our last trip, it got tangled up in the mechanism of the winch itself resulting in much swearing and me having to raise the anchor by hand. Thanks SWMBO
I know a lot of boats have a bow roller system with a pin that can be inserted through the anchor or the chain but I don't have that. So I'm wondering what other people use to secure their anchors?

A piece of rope to a cleat located in the anchor well - keep it simple ! Don't like complications round the windlass - too easy to get body parts stuck !!

My anchor stopper is a SS spring clip that secures onto the hole on the top of the Delta.

This is fastened to SS wire that has a large spiced eye and the end which is looped over the winch. When anchoring the whole lot is removed and clipped over the guard rail.

This arrangement can be deployed when at anchor to as the chain can be hooked and the eye taken over a cleat and wt taken of the winch itself. Never actually done this as always leave the winch 'loaded' as it were - for a quck get away case need.

I use a length of bright coloured rope. When anchor is down I tie the rope to the rails at the bow as a reminder that anchor is still down (dont ask too embarrassing)

I've used for a couple of years now, a chain grab hook with a rope loop which goes around the capstan. Stays in place for my configuration and is easy to see (the rope anyway) from the cockpit. Also easy to unhook. see:

(I sould learn how to put that up as a pic)

Lets have a go
