Does anyone know where I can get hold of a brass or copper anchor lamp that runs on parrafin; I mean the sort of thing that has the proper (fresnel) lens? I don't want a fancy ornamental one, just one that does what it is supposed to!

Thanks

Gerard

I use an ordinary Hurricane lamp, always worked well, but I think I've seen what you are looking for in the Nauticalia shops.

Re: Classicmarine

There's also some useful/interesting information on this site in the data section.

PS did you ring the bell?

Nauticalia do a real one, mostly brass construction. I was bought one for a xmas present last year. I know the lens works but I've not deployed it in the wind or rain yet, so I can't vouch for its weathering capabilities.

I had a Nauticalia one - for a week. I think it was about 10" high. It kept blowing out in winds above 15kts. Maybe there was a fault, I don't know. I got my money back though. I now have a similar looking lamp with an internal chimney. Proven OK in up to about 40kts so far!!
