we have the classic problem of feeding the chain into the locker.
It tends to pile up and the only real way is to hand feed it.
I have found this available from Lofrans EASY CHAIN SYSTEM ECS 3000 chain system

Or are there any alternatives

the problem is that the natural angle of repose for chain is pretty steep (trans: it piles up easily) so you need to disrupt that tendency.

Previous suggestions on board the forum include:

an angled floor to the anchor locker so that chain slides down into the deepest corner first

a truncated traffic cone secured below the point of entry into the locker so that incoming chain is diverted from making a heap


On the previous boat, the anchor locker was a deep "V" shape, and never had any problem with the chain piling up. But all I had was 50ft of 6mm chain.

One solution is to use stainless steel chain. It does not pile up and forms a much lower heap. Only disadvantage of ss chain is cost! It is on my list of "wants" though.

SS iss more sslippery, sso it doessnt make ssuch a ssteep sslope
