Isn't there a chance that that kind of storage might damage the anti-fouling?

They don't need antifouling. They are put in and out as the owner requests. Usually they call the yard, tell them when they are coming and the boat will be sitting at a pontoon ready to go.

Port St Nicolas in Granville is similar, they are 2-3km from the port and take the boats along the roads on a hydraulic lift towed behind a tractor. There were a few British boats there when I lived in Granville.

Sunseeker had a outdoor system in the 1980's at Poole. They also had a boat lift, drop boat on, and it was lowered into the water, came out the same way.

It might seem odd, but I keep mine floating on the water.

Doesn't that affect the skin?

There is one like this in Auckland (NZ) where the mobos motor right into the shed and are picked up by an automatic stacker, hosed down and parked.

When they want the boat launched, they just phone the shed, and the boat is in the water by the time they arrive.

It was interesting just to stand and watch.
