Alongside pontoon berthing

All excellent examples of bad seamanship.

I tend to the view that Portsmouth Harbour's rule that all vessels in the entrance are to be treated as under power for colregs purposes should be generalised. There are situations when being under sail in a tight entrance is inevitable but, on the face of it, that Nic's behaviour is inexcusable, on a par with the "I'm racing, get out of my way" idiots you sometimes find towards the back of racing fleets (the leaders follow colregs and just want you to be predictable)

I'm not going to pretend I never misjudge a situation, but I do try and keep out of people's way, being well aware of my beam in a narrow channel, but also aware of my shallow draft, that allows me to use shallower water than most monos.

I just want you to know that to be clear I have absolutely nothing against cats or their owners….to me they are all sailboats…and all a pain

Have you failed to fit the anchor snubber rope?
Yes….we had an incident during the night !….the air went dead calm and the boats just started to do their own thing…instead of in unison…and we got too close to a (you guessed it) cat…so since they were there first we moved a 100 metres. Setting the anchor in the dark meant we couldn’t be sure how it was set and now we were closer to the shore…so I left off the stubber in case I had to re anchor in a hurry.
So far it’s looking good…I shall wait until the end of the windiest part of the day (ten knots 🤣) and swim over the anchor. If all looks good I will set the stubber for the evening.
Well spotted 👍🏻

I mean shallow like max 1.2M where monohull raggies and many sailing cats can't reach. Usually it's just me and a few small local boats. Your place looks like an aquatic supermarket car park.
It gets quieter after dark…and it’s all mine in the winter

We like it even shallower as long as it’s calm, and no chance of bouncing off the bottom. Wading ashore for a morning walk is hard to beat.
