I have just spent 3 days of my four day Day Skipper course being taught by John Hart, who to put is simply was fantastic. If in 20 years I know 5% of what he knows I shall count myself lucky.
All my self taught theory was OK, so I managed to by pass the shorebased course. My last day comes in a month, after he has delivered a boat across the Atlantic and my only week point is close quarters boat handling, which I now need to brush up on with practice. I know what I am doing wrong, and know how to do it right but just need to get my brain in gear so I can actually do it right.
My last day is a day/night trip visiting some destinations in the Bristol Channel and returning about 3 am to wait for the lock to open. So that should be good experience.
I know John must have taoght many of todays instructors and authors. I count myself lucky to have been taught by him.
Just thought I should let you know how I got on.
