Alan Hill designed an incredible number of successful boats. Biscay 36, Halbadier, Trident, CLAYMORE... to rattle off just 4...

Now, I have a problem. I was sure that I had seen somewhere notice of his death. However, YM has articles which seem to place him in the land of the living. Does anyone have SURE knowledge one way or the other?

(PS, if AFH reading this, then glad to hear it /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)

It was the HalBERDier dear boy, AND early Moody's, AND popular sea-angler the Mitchell 31 AND its offspring the SeaWarrior.

Do you know anyone who owns a Sea Warrior? (Hint: read my Profile. There, that wasn't too painful, was it?)

Alan Hill is not in the best of health, but is still living in Burnham-on-Crouch.

Perhaps you were confusing him with Kim Holman who designed an even larger number of even more successful boats /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Sensible design, strong Tyler moulding, that's why I settled for the 28ft version. Several times I've found notes saying "If you want to sell ring me" - never happened before!

Re: Alan F. Hill

Hello, I'm the owner of a "biskay 36" designed by Alan Hill.
The boat is now dry-moored in Greece at Preveza in Ionian Marine.
I would like to Know if there is some owner of the same kind of boat in Preveza or close to it.
Thanks
Guido Lovisolo

Hi Goldie
Thank you for your answer. My Byskay it's sloop. It is a very great boat.
Du you have any idea where to find the drowings of the boat without to spend 600 €?

'Gem'?

And then there are MIke Peyton's 'Lodestone', 'Brimstone' and 'Touchstone', the Duelist design and many of the Marcon boats (e.g. Cutlass).
I think Gem is ferro, as all the "stone" boats.
I'm pretty sure I've seen Alan Hill out and about on the river plenty of times last season, but usually in the distance and hard to catch up with.

Sorry, I don't have drawings but there is a Biscay 36 yahoo! group - you could join that group and ask there, I think one of the members might have copies. You'll find the group at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/biscay36

Lots of photos of different Biscay 36s there too so why not add yours? Very pretty, what's she called? She might be featured already!

Here is the Builders Catalogue from the late 70's - not much in the way of drawings although there is a centreline section, and some more photos.
I have some more info re specification and a YM boat report that I have not put on to Photobucket; if you would like to have copies please send me your email address in a private message on here.
