I have just reprogrammed an EMTRAC AIS with a new boat name, I am aware that the callsign and MMSI stay the same. On VesselFinder, the new name shows as it should. However on Marine Traffic, it still shows the old name. Presumably they hols a database of MMSI vs vessel names, or does just take a while up update? I would email Marine Traffic, but they seem to given up responding to email. Any ideas apprechiated?

Have you amended your licence details with Ofcom?

Marine traffic appears to be going out of business. Not responding to emails and if I try to send a review I get "server error"

Yes I agree,
And on my iPhone it no longer works as it did, just seems to go into a death spiral of agreeing the licence etc. I am not keen on vessel finder its a shame about MT or Kpler, I really liked it

Your AIS needs to be transmitting whilst a Marine Traffic server (usually a local radio ham) is receiving.

If your AIS was edited then switched off, you'll need to wait until its powered up agsin and received by a base station. It won't update on their database otherwise ... see this similar post ..

It stayed on for several hours. I see this morning that MT has updated to the new name. Many thanks for the info all.
