AIS Antenna

I'm having trouble finding a no-frills antenna, tuned for AIS, that accepts a PL259 plug. Don't want an antenna with cable attached. Anyone found a supplier.

AIS is at the top end of Marine VHF so any antenna sold for that band should work. Probably best to get low gain.

I use a Metz VHF antenna with a splitter. Metz also do one tuned for AIS.

Sadly, @saltyjojn has retired and is enjoying a bottle of red wine.

No real need for an AIS specific antenna, a VHF one will work just fine. The PL259 isn't remotely waterproof, but if you ant a removable cable, how about the Vtronix, it's the one you'll see on millions of yachts, usually with the Hawk wind indicator, the cable has a small screw in connector that is waterproof and is replaceable.

Vtronix Whipflex Antenna

+1 for the shakespear ais antenna from cactus, i have one .. The v tronix is also a shakespear , or owned by them.
Its surprising that most quality vhf antenna ruin it by using rg50 coax..
Its around 19mm shorter than a vhf antenna so its better tuned for ais and i think a far cheaper and better option than a costly splitter. As the advert says " especially designed for masthead mounting..
Its 3bd gain so perfect for a sail boat..
I put a new shakespear vhf antenna on my mast with rg240 coax... all i can say is wow, picking up a huge amount more than i ever did even when the old antenna was new.
