I have a Nexus android tablet, which I use with Navionics.

I have recently acquired an NMEA to Wi-Fi adapter, which broadcasts GPS and AIS data.

Does anyone know of an android app which will display AIS data (i.e. not derived from the Internet)? Open CPN would be ideal, but there isn't an android version.

Navionics now displays AIS targets, but not course, track nor collision warnings, and is thus not suitable for the job. So far anyways - there may be further updates which improve on this, or perhaps not if Garmionics doesn't want to further step on the toes of the hardware chartplotter market (which includes their own devices).

The paid OpenCPN Android version by Dave Register on the Play Store is the genuine one and the money goes to support the guy that created the software (and Google of course). The other one is very outdated and not really worth bothering with.

Pretty sure Marine Navigator offers AIS (might be optional for a further hefty investment of £2.09 on top of the initial mighty £6.32)

late news - yes it does:

There are two versions of OpenCPN on Play Store; one asks for money [he must be a shyster] and the other is apparently not compatible with a Nexus tablet.
2 versions, Dave register is the author, not a shyster. Fully supported and updated. The other is maison automatic. Ancient and unsupported, missing loads of stuff. It's still opensource, download and compile the latest release if you want though apparently compiling for android is a bit involved.

I haven't tried the new Navionics app yet that has AIS but do use the Marine Navigator app on an old 2012 nexus tablet using charts from Visit My Harbour and with AIS data from a Yakker wifi transmitter. Been using this setup for many years.
