Aide memoirs and useful tricks for remembering stuff boaty

There is a logical progression for lights and shapes. With one anomaly - motor vessels - the priority goes up as you add a shape or a light.

Sailing is the basic with none.
(Then motor)
Add one: fishing or trawling
Add one: constrained in passage

Add loads more and it's a minesweeper playing the bagpipes and towing a submarine!

I thought I knew a few signs, lights, buoys etc. Now I have read all those shortcuts, I am so confused I do not know any. .
I think that I will stick with -senior officers have curly alban hair etc. Which is pointless because apart from the tangent (for pitch for building stairs) I have not used it since leaving school.
So I am stuck with the only other useless one I can remember
SWALK
And that is not needed on the internet

Here is my check list for leaving the boat. It’s written in the back of my logbook and saves stress and anxiety after image.jpgleaving

Turn off electrics, pick up wallet , phone & car keys, Lock hatch, go ashore
When I had a swinging mooring the launch driver would ask.
Have you got your phone?
Have you got the your wallet?
Have you got your keys?
And he wouldn't go until all had been checked, too many return trips.
