OK, I've decided my life is too easy and I have too much money left on my credit cards, so after many years of interest I think it's about time I took the plunge and got a boat to absorb all my cash and make me go grey early.
My only experience is of motor boating on rivers, predominantly Norfolk Broads but have got bored with crappy rental boats, no power and low bridges. I plan to spend about £50k initially on a learners boat and then maybe upgrade a couple of years later. I would like to survive my first year so what training courses should I take to ease the transition from river to coastal?
What type of boat? Having spent many hours on the Broads I have come to admire Broom boats and have seen several Broom 37s and similar from the early 1980's for around my price - are they any good? I intend to spend a fair bit of time on board so some space would be nice and I would like to moor it somewhere in the Portsmouth to Poole area, which I assume will not be cheap - any suggestions.
Finally - am I mad?
Sensible reasoned helpful answers and harsh critical outbursts equally welcome!
Cheers.
